...Fight, Fight, Fight

An interesting post on Blue Oregon following a humous piece in the Denver Post.

It's the old, do we lean to the left or to the right.

It's not posted here to confirm anything, other than it's something to think about and write about.

what's a liberal? what's a conservative? a david corn liberal? a david wu liberal? a barry goldwater conservative? a tom delay conservative?
one whom believes what he says? one whom says what will get him what he wants?
and the larger question, in our work how much are we idealogues and how hard eo we try to be objective?
it seems to be easier for liberas to be objective than the right wingers. liberals don't have to defend liars as much, and don't think god is looking over their shoulders.
oh, and liberals don't have to support the appocalypse.

Since you asked ...

Leftism is the sense of the group. It's like category. You got a knife a fork and a spoon, for example instances, and then you get silverware, a category. You got parents, child, sibling, aunts and uncles, cousins, all in a house, then you get family, or clan, as categories. None of the individuals have a mark on them that an infant sees to know it is "family" -- but the infant grows up knowing. The category really exists, it is valid "knowing" (no matter that it's invisible).

Rightism is the sense of self. It's like looking out for number one. If there was a law that paid money to silverwares, every spoon thinks "this means me," although the law doesn't say "spoon," it says "silverware." When parents say "the family is going to the beach," every kid thinks "this means me."

It turns out, now that there are the brain scan (PET) machines which can take a picture of a person's thinking -- emphasize that, since it is pretty special in the history of humankind if you can imagine all the people you know in history who might have wished for such a thing: Take A Picture Of The Thought Process While A Person Is Thinking Thought, (lab researchers show the subject images, such as the flag, their mother, food, etc., or play audio to the subject, such as music, child speaking, rattlesnake rattling, etc., then * click *, snap a picture of what's in the subject's brain) -- it turns out what is called 'thinking,' meaning the process and experience of cognition and attention and volition, occurs in the thin outer shell called the cortex, thin like the peel on an orange, (in contrast to sensation and reflex, which are also processes and experiences in the brain but which occur in interior bodies, like in the 'seeds' or 'sections' in an orange).

And it turns out, (although this has been known for a long time before there were brain pictures), that the cortex regions where thinking goes on is divided into two separate hemispheres and there are two -different- types of thinking. Right brain takes examples and figures out what they have in common -- right brain categorizes. Called inductive reasoning. Left brain takes rules and patterns and breaks them down to find the parts that apply in the present situation -- left brain specifies. Called deductive reasoning.

You're way ahead of the text, I can tell. Left brain thinking is rightism. Right brain thinking is leftism.

Everybody is both a conservative and a liberal. (Whoever was asking What's a conservative? and What's a liberal? the answer is Everybody.) Looking out for self interest (survival of the organism) and looking out for the group validation (collective sustainment), have been the two and only two social motives of all humans in all cultures in all history. It really sort of loses import when it's called 'politics,' but that's what it is.

The two sides of politics are simply the two types of thinking we can do, from our sensory imputs and cogitation, and abstraction (where a 'mental handle' stands for a 'thing' but it's not The Thing proper), and so the two sides of political thought come (manifest) from human brain anatomy.

The danger in politics, both to the individual and the group, is when someone powerful has half their brain tied behind their back, or for some other cause is unable or refuses to employ all their brain and see both sides and judge the balance point.

Socio-political progress goes as walking goes: Stand on one side and bring forward the second, stand on it and bring forward the first, repeat, and progress forward in balance.

[Should we give (require) brain scans for our Executive and Judicial empowered agents, to make sure their equipment is working? (Legislators seem to be supposed to be lopsided.) There have been (NYTimes article, July '04, as I recall) some interesting (in my opinion) results in brain scans being able to see when someone is lying ....]

You dorks must be raking in the

bucks with all the trade-out spots,
PSA'S, and station promos i hear filling every break. as to those
paying spots you have, dollar a holler ain't gonna cut it, but
collapsing like a cheap suitcase with your paying advertisers is the
only option when your DESPERATE!

And having greg clapper as programming director, well thats a clear
sign of success for sure. and yes, thats the same greg clapper making a

living the last 15 years as spokesperson for the anti-tax,
anti-government assistance political hacks. the same greg clapper that
depended on that same government, funded by tax payers, to bail his ass

out when he stiffed all his creditors and employees when he filed
BANKRUPTCY in association with KKGR radio in Gresham in July 1991. (of
course this is public record as Casey Stengel said "you can look it
up") those employees he
stiffed had to get the wages owed to them from the reserve created by
the state. what a fucking hypocrite. oh, and did i forget to mention
greg clappers pot bust for possesion last year? greg, a word of advice,

discuss those lucrative trade-out spots with hemstreet when NOT engaged

in illegal activitie(s)..............

and finally, KPAM, we all love child molesters as much as the next
fellow, but it is a little hard to stomach when it's the news
guy...........anyway keep those station promos comin'
